Inverloch

Inverloch is the jewel in the Bass Coast crown, and less than two hours from Melbourne itself. It features splendid calm beaches along Anderson Inlet, which are ideal for families and relaxation, or a surf beach for the more adventurous holiday maker. There’s also fishing, wind surfing, diving and boating opportunities. As a top tourist destination Inverloch and its surrounds offer plenty of activities, eating options and rainy day fillers.

Inverloch is only 45 minutes drive away from Wilsons Promontory, which is the ideal spot for a national park day trip. Or it’s also close to Phillip Island and the famous penguin parade. Head towards Cape Paterson for an attractive coastal drive that takes you through the Bunurong Marine and Coastal Park. Wonderful sights can be appreciated along this route. For a break from the water drive north into the rolling hills of South Gippsland and take in some of Victoria’s most spectacular farming regions. While most roads offer picturesque scenes take a drive to Korumburra, between Meeniyan and Mirboo North or towards Wilsons Promontory for something extra special.

For exercise in Inverloch take the 1.5km Screw Creek Nature Walk. This walk will take you through grasslands and white mangroves. It begins near the foreshore caravan park.

A shell museum, on the foreshore, offers many ‘wow’ moments with it’s abundance of various shells from both the Inverloch region and around the world. There’s touch tables full of shells for the kids and more mature explorers. The Bunurong Environment Centre offers information on the region’s dinosaur diggings and shells.

Wonthaggi, just 12km west on the Bass Highway, offers all the regional centre shopping options, services and recreation activities you’ll need during your Inverloch stay.

For jazz lovers Inverloch has a festival dedicated to the genre on the Labour Day long weekend. A street parade and plenty of bands will keep you enthralled.
